Nestled
on a peninsula between the Calibogue Sound and Broad Creek
in a secluded section of Hilton Head Island, Spanish Wells
Plantation offers its 200 homeowners a breathtakingly beautiful
setting, with magnificent deep water and sunset views. Almost
90% of these properties are full one acre lots. Once the
site of artesian wells where the Spanish Armadas stopped
to fill their kegs before traveling on, the land still contains
enormous, centuries old live oak trees and vegetation from
those earlier times. Spanish Wells features a private, George
Cobb designed, 9 hole golf course, considered one of the
best on the Island, a community tennis center and a small
beach area. The community is primarily residential with
many property owners living there on a full time basis.
Home architecture ranges from modern lavish estates to older,
more modest dwellings (there are no villas). Many properties
feature deepwater lots with private docks.
